The Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of CVWN and Secretariat NAP II (SISNAP II) project was dedicated to supporting the implementation of the Second National Action Plan (NAP II) for the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820. This initiative aimed to enhance the capacity of national networks of conflict victims' groups, ensuring they could effectively advocate for the rights of women affected by conflict in Nepal. By focusing on institutional capacity building, the project sought to strengthen CVWN’s ability to lead and implement the provisions outlined in NAP II while addressing the broader Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda.
Through SISNAP II, CVWN significantly enhanced its institutional capacity, enabling it to emerge as a strong, victim-led organization at the forefront of advocacy efforts related to NAP II. This strengthened capacity ensured that the voices and needs of women conflict victims were adequately represented and addressed. The project facilitated CVWN’s collaboration with multiple stakeholders, enhancing its ability to lead coordinated efforts in the areas of transitional justice and women’s rights advocacy.
Key components of the project included building CVWN’s technical and advocacy capacities to improve coordination with government bodies and relevant stakeholders, including interactions with the National Women Commission (NWC) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Additionally, the project provided institutional capacity enhancement training for CVWN, equipping the organization with the necessary skills to sustain and expand its advocacy efforts. As a result, CVWN became better prepared to implement NAP II effectively and contribute meaningfully to gender equality and the protection of women’s rights in post-conflict Nepal.
The SISNAP II project was successfully completed in April 2024, after running from January to April 2024, in partnership with UN Women, strengthening the alignment of the project with global efforts toward the implementation of Women, Peace, and Security agendas in Nepal.
